How to Make Bath Bombs: What I Need

So what do you need to make your own homemade bath bombs? You will need the following ingredients: baking soda, citric acid, Witch hazel, coloring, and fragrance oil. You will also need a mixing bowl, a bath bomb mold, a spoon and some patience.

Doing It Step by Step: How to Make Your Own Bath Bombs

First, mix together 1 part citric acid to 2 parts baking soda and blend thoroughly. Once blended, you can then add your colorant. It is better if you choose the powder type. Do not add too much; the real color usually comes out as soon as the Witch Hazel is added. Next, add in the fragrance oil of your choice.

After adding the fragrance oil, the most challenging part of making bath bombs come in. This is where you first give the mixture a few sprays of witch hazel then stir in between sprays. Spraying about 3 to 4 times should be enough then give your mixture a thorough stir. Be careful not to add too much or your mixture will start fizzing and there will be no going back.

You will have to do a lot of spritzing and stirring until your mixture becomes thick enough to stick together when squished. You can do a little test by pinching some amount in between two fingers. When it sticks a bit, then it should be ready.

Once you get the right consistency, immediately put your mixture into bath bomb molds. Do not wait too long or your mixture will harden and again, there will be no going back.

After moulding, wait about 5 to 10 minutes for the bath bomb to harden and simply tap them out. Give it a spritz of Witch Hazel or two to give a little crust on it. Finally, air dry your bath bombs for about 3 to 4 hours and voila! You have your very own bath bombs.

So now that you know how to make your own bath bombs, how do you go about storing them? Your bath bombs will be fine as long as they are kept in a very dry place. Humidity of any kind will set them off.

Your bath bombs will give your usual bath a whole new twist so try making one now.
